tldr: I bought a cheap dupe of our floral press-ons. Visible sprues, blurry pattern, cheap coating. This isn't rare — it's the industry standard at the low end. Find one brand. Stick with them.
I was at the market when I spotted it — a floral embossed press-on set, same shape as ours, same general vibe. A fraction of the price. So I bought it.

Bad idea.
What I Found When I Opened the Box
The sprues were still on the edges. Not trimmed, not sanded — just left there. The coating was uneven, slightly tacky. And the floral pattern? A blurry smudge. You could barely tell what it was supposed to be.
Why This Happens at the Supply Chain Level
Here's the thing: this isn't an outlier. At the supply chain level, this is the standard. Molds run past their lifespan. Coatings get diluted. "Embossed" designs get screen-printed flat. Nobody checks before it ships.
The worst part? It all looks the same in a product photo. You don't find out until it's already on your nails.
How to Stop Getting Burned
My advice: find one brand you trust and stop gambling. There's no regulation in this space, no universal quality standard. Reputation is all you have to go on.
You get what you pay for. In this industry, that's not a cliché — it's just true.
