Find Your Shape by Hand Type
Type 1 — Chubby Hands — round, full fingers with a soft, plump look

Round is the universal shape — and it's especially good here. The curved edge naturally elongates without fighting the finger's shape. Short round keeps things cute and proportional. Want more length? Middle oval gives you that slender, elegant effect immediately.
✅ Best: Short Round, Middle Oval
❌ Avoid: Middle Almond, Super-Long Stiletto — almond's taper looks awkward on fuller fingers; extreme length throws off proportion.
Type 2 — Short & Thick Hands — short fingers, wider palm, sturdy and grounded

Short square is underrated for this hand type — it keeps the nail clean and crisp without adding bulk. Middle oval is the other go-to: it follows the fingertip's natural narrowing and makes fingers look visibly slimmer. Both shapes are low-maintenance and work-appropriate.
✅ Best: Short Square, Middle Oval
❌ Avoid: Middle Almond, Middle Square, Long Coffin — almond's taper looks disproportionate; long coffin adds length but emphasizes width at the base.
Type 3 — Conical Hands — fingers taper naturally to a point, palm is wider than the fingers

This hand type needs visual width at the fingertip to balance the contrast between a wider palm and narrow fingers. Square shapes — short or medium — do exactly that. The flat edge adds structure and makes fingers look more proportional. Long coffin works well too for a bolder look, and the flat tip distributes pressure evenly so it's less likely to break.
✅ Best: Short Square, Middle Square, Long Coffin
❌ Avoid: Middle Almond, Super-Long Stiletto — pointed tips make already-tapered fingers look even sharper.
Type 4 — Bony Hands — prominent knuckles, uneven width, but usually long fingers

Coffin shapes are your best friend. The slight taper balances finger width, the flat tip softens the look of prominent knuckles, and the overall shape adds a gentle elongating effect without being too sharp. Short coffin for daily wear, long coffin for occasions.
✅ Best: Short Coffin, Long Coffin
❌ Avoid: Short Almond, Middle Almond, Super-Long Stiletto — pointed shapes draw attention to knuckle joints and make hands look more angular, not less.
Type 5 — Slender Hands — long, thin fingers with even proportions

Every shape works. This is the hand type that can pull off anything — square looks clean and modern, almond looks editorial, coffin looks dramatic. The only thing to watch: super-short round can look disproportionately small on long fingers. Go at least short square or short almond to keep things balanced.
✅ Best: All shapes
❌ Avoid: Super-short round — looks too small relative to finger length. Also, very long stiletto has minimal contact surface and breaks more easily — beautiful but fragile.
Type 6 — Balanced Hands — well-proportioned fingers, palm and finger length roughly equal

The most versatile hand type. Every shape is flattering — it comes down to your lifestyle and aesthetic. For daily wear, short square or short oval. For events, middle almond or long coffin. You have full freedom to experiment.
✅ Best: All shapes
❌ Avoid: Nothing — but if you go super-long stiletto, know that the contact surface is small and it's more prone to breaking. Use it for occasions, not everyday.
Daily Wear vs. Special Occasions
For everyday life — work, typing, cooking — keep it under 17mm. Super-short round and short square are the most functional. For events and weekends, go as long and dramatic as you want.

Q: What press-on nail shape makes fingers look longer?
A: Oval and almond both elongate. Almond is more dramatic. For chubby or short fingers, middle oval is the most flattering starting point.
Q: I have flat nail beds — which shape won't lift?
A: Short round or short square. They sit flush. Avoid anything with a deep C-curve. Full flat nail bed guide →
Q: What's the difference between oval and almond press-on nails?
A: Oval follows the natural nail curve — rounder and softer. Almond tapers more sharply to a point. Both elongate, almond more dramatically.
Q: I have bony hands — what nail shape should I avoid?
A: Pointed shapes like almond and stiletto emphasize knuckles. Coffin softens them. Warm nude tones help too.
Q: Can I mix nail shapes across fingers?
A: Technically yes, but it rarely looks intentional. Stick to one shape per set.
